Bou bones

We aren't the only ones to enjoy the harvest this year. The kids were really excited about getting bbq bou bones. Prudhoe probably more then anybody. I spent yesterday making hamburger with Rachel's dad Abby, and Rachel helped package and label. The rest we drove down to Indian Valley meats to get made into Polish sausage and pepper sticks.... yum yum yum.

Today at work, i'm going to be working in the station. I'm going to bring my crock pot to work with me and make a tenderloin / back strap stew. and I made nachos last night with bou hamburger, so good.

Caribou 2011

Got back today from a meat hunt on the denali highway. Didn't see very many bou up there this year. But didn't really matter because I was just there for meat anyways. I took this cow from around 280 yards downhill, slight wind, .338 WM 210 grain Barnes TSX bullet that I hand loaded a couple of months ago. What a sweet shooting rifle / bullet combination. Didn't ruin any meat at all, right between the eyes. Spent this after noon boning meat at my father in laws. Going to make sausage and hamburger mostly. of course some choice cuts are going to be grilled in the next week or so....... :)

The exit hole did not look like this.

Granted, I know this is not the most amazing bou there ever was, but i wasn't on this hunt for a trophy, I'm just happy to put some meat in the freezer. I was very happy with the shot though, single shot. Quickest I've ever seen an animal die. Didn't take one step.

LIKE A DOG IN WATER

both our dogs love playing in the water.

Even Raza, Stephanie's dog who stays with us, liked playing with the ball/rope. Not enough to jump in the water, but she did steal it away a few times.

Prudoe is the most enthusiastic about playing fetch in the water. My little buddy loves swimming and splashing at the lake.

We went to the lake a few weeks ago, it was the first time all summer. Denali and Prudhoe have been bugging us all summer saying how much they wanted to go to the lake. well we finally caved in and took along a toy we have been saving (not letting them chew it to pieces) for the occasion. It was a lot of fun, even though we got rained on a bit.

July Ultrasound

these 3D pics aren't really the best because apparently there is a lot of stuff in there to mess with the imaging process.... but you can tell our son has only one nose and two eyes, which is a good thing.

We had another ultrasound on July 25th. We are definitly having a boy. First Weight grandson! Everything is looking perfect the ultrasound tech said. Due date is still around Dec. 4th. We are really excited!!!
